Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) & Enhance Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS)

Training - Training Centre (CASR PART 142)

  • General
    • TCAS/ACAS course provides flight department personnel with a comprehensive description of the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance Systems and Airborne Collision Avoidance Systems and the various features these systems incorporate to alert flight crews to possible conflicts with other traffic.
  • Objectives

    Upon completion of this course the participants will be able;
    • to meet the needs of a new to TCAS/ACAS or as a refresher to the more experienced, with the knowledge needed to take full advantage of these lifesaving systems.
  • Course Contents

  • General
    • The EGPWS provides alerts for potentially hazardous flight conditions involving imminent impact with the ground. In addition to providing the protection of GPWS, the EGPWS monitors terrain proximity using an internal worldwide terrain data base. Proximate terrain data show on the navigation display. If there is potential terrain conflict, alerts are provided based on estimated time to impact, and the alerts are “look-ahead terrain alerts”
  • Objectives

    Upon completion of this course the participants will be able;
    • to be more alert for the excessive descent rate;
    • to know the excessive terrain closure rate;
    • to aware of altitude loss after takeoff or go-around
    • to know the unsafe terrain clearance when not in the landing configuration
    • to aware of flight into excessive deviation below an ILS glide slope
